2014 Ferrari P4/5 LMP racecar makes an appearance in concept form

Led by James Glickenhaus, the team that created the P4/5 Competizione for Ferrari is now all set to build an LMP1 alternative fuel-powered race car for the racing wing of the Italian car manufacturer. The team has just released a handful of teaser images that give us an inkling of what the actual racer might look like. Earlier this year, the P4/5 Competizione became the fastest Ferrari at the Nurburgring breaking the lap record previously held by the 599XX Evo. In the 2012 24 Hours of Nürburgring, the model also finished first in the Alternative Energy Class.

For the 2013/2014 season, the team is looking to outpace the Audi R18 e-Tron Quattro which has ruled Le Mans so far with a new LMP1 race car running on alternative fuel. Given how conducive the rules are for vehicles competing in the 2014 LMP1’s Alternate Energy Car segment, James Glickenhaus’ team has been strongly exploring the possibilities of building P 4/5 LMP for the 2014 season. No details about the engine specifications of the concept have been provided so far though judging by the 563 horsepower 430 Scuderia-sourced 4.0 liter V8 engine that the P4/5 Competizione has been given, one can only expect the powertrain on the P4/5 LMP to be meaty and rubber burning.
