The 2012 Paris Auto Show has begun and with it comes a flurry of the best new autos created by the biggest brands in the business. Mercedes Benz has kicked off its Parisian campaign with a great new offering in the eco-car segment dubbed the SLS AMG Coupe Electric Drive. The all-electric vehicle is already being called the ultimate zero-emissions car since it runs on four electric motors and produces a staggering 740 horsepower.

The 2014 model year vehicle is derived from the SLS AMG supercar though the vehicle’s gasoline-run engine has been swapped with four super efficient electric motors that are tuned to produce a mammoth 737 lb-ft of torque and 740 horsepower. This also makes the electric car the meatiest AMG model ever produced by Mercedes-Benz.
The company claims that the vehicle is capable of delivering a top speed of around 155 mph accelerating from 0-62 mph in 3.9 seconds flat. It takes around 20 hours to charge the model’s battery pack fully though a new quick charging “wall box” brings the charge time down to mere three hours. A fully replenished battery provides the vehicle with a range of around 155 miles.
The most dynamic electric offering yet from the company is expected to open up the electric vehicle segment to a wider audience and may help performance-oriented buyers make a nature-friendly choice without giving up their passion for powerful supercars. The vehicle is set to be retailed for a price of $536,000 and will be available in showroom sometime in 2013.
