The first quarter of 2011 saw India welcome the Aston Martin DB9 to much excitement. This maker of cars such as those driven by the ever-popular James Bond in the hit movie franchise has made a name for itself in the luxury car segment. The DB9 is a sports car that’s refined, powerful and extremely luxurious with its low lined body, front falling oval headlights, iconic front grille and powerful V12 engine. Incidentally, this is the same model that was showcased in the Bond flick, Casino Royale. Ian Cullum is the designer behind this beautiful piece of work which comes in two variants. The cabin is just what you would expect from a car of its status. Dual tone interiors reveal fine craftsmanship and the DB9 is as silent as it gets. What does fall short, however, is trunk space as bulky baggage can’t really be contained with ease.

Aston Martin DB9 Performance

The DB9 isn’t just a luxury car; it’s pretty powerful too, packing 470 hp at 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 443 lb/ft at 5,000 rpm. All this is made possible by the powerful mid-mounted 48-valve 6.0-liter V12 engine with rear wheel drive capability. The DB9 hits the 0-100 km/h run in an impressive 4.6 seconds on a manual/ automatic transmission, clocking top speeds of 306 km/h.

Aston Martin DB9 Features

Luxury seems to be the theme around which the DB9 is built. Dual climate control ensures that you enjoy your drive to the maximum no matter the heat or cold outside. A dash-integrated DVD system with MP3 connectivity and the Aston Martin Premium Audio System provide you with the latest in entertainment. Users can also make use of the Apple iPod connector, WAF Windows Media Player and MPEG audio file compatibility.

As for safety, no stone has been left unturned. The DB9 comes equipped with front air bags, front aide air bags, cruise control, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Antilock Brake System, Dynamic Stability Control, traction control and Emergency Brake Assist. The car has also been rigorously tested for safety and handling features.

Aston Martin DB9Design

Whether you choose to get the Coupe or the Volante, users are promised superior luxury and enhanced driving experience. British class is evident from the level of craftsmanship involved in making the DB9. The detailing in the interiors is something else, comprising plenty of leather and cubby holes you can use to store knick knacks. Ground clearance is low which is why the DB9 looks so sporty. You can expect a clean side view with a single swept roofline and a pronounced boot. The long bonnet runs the length of the car’s leading edge, lending it an even longer appearance.

Aluminum has been used extensively for the instrument panels on the interior. The 3D-designed dials are flood-lit making for easy visibility and give the cabin a modern look. What is immediately noticeable is the glass starter button that looks like a gem waiting to be touched.
