Audi Q3 is meant to be the car that is expected to generate large sales volumes to catapult Audi to the top slot in the luxury car segment in India. The premise of the launch is quite clear. It is meant to be an affordable luxury car in India but that does not mean it compromises on features or quality to the extent that the Audi sheen is lost. Despite the fact that Audi Q3 is expected to cost considerably less, it does not hit you in the form of poor quality interiors. Good quality materials have been used. Hard plastic is there but minimal. It is smaller than a Q5 but there is enough legroom even at the rear. Seats are comfortable and adjustable. Only diesel variants will be available and the SUV will make its way to India as a completely built unit from Audi's manufacturing facility at Martorell, Spain.
Audi Q3 Performance

The Audi Q3 2.0 TDI diesel produces 177 PS power and 380 Nm torque. With these kind of numbers the movement on off-road tracks is unlikely to be troublesome. A 7 speed S tronic system is coupled with the engine. The 100 kmph mark is attained quickly, in 8.7 seconds. The top speed is excellent too at 211 kmph. The independent suspension system enables good handling in general.

The standard Quattro feature adds to your driving experience while ensuring that navigation on off-road tracks is not troublesome. The steering is light as compared to other Audi cars and the suspension does not keep the ride smooth on difficult bumpy tracks. This is where you may feel the need to opt for another Audi. A double panorama roof is provided for. The rear view mirror requires a manual adjustment. The Bose sound system and a 6.5 inch screen along with a WLAN hotspot take care of your entertainment and connectivity needs. All the standard features of luxury sedan find a place in this luxury SUV.

The Audi Q3 is smaller in size than a Q5 but the width being similar, you get enough room in this SUV. The center armrest has been given a miss in the rear seat to allow for a comfortable seating for three. Leather and brushed aluminum dominate in the interiors. You may feel a space crunch if you compare it to a Q5 but the leg room and knee room does not disappoint at all. The headroom may turn up as a cause of concern at the driver's seat. The center console on the dashboard bears the control knobs.

Audi Q3 is shorter and more compact than a Q5. The Volkswagen Tiguan forms the base for this Audi model. Transversely mounted engine enable more space in the interior. LED daytime running lights are standard in the wedge shaped headlamps at the front. Two air inlets are present at the front for the engine. A tornado line on the sides gives a trendy look to the Audi Q3. Aerodynamics get a push with the build of the roof which has a sloping stance. The tailgate of Audi Q3 has LED strips akin to Audi Q5. The tailpipes are present below the rear bumper on both the sides. Twelve different shades are available to choose from and five color options allow you to customize the look. Wheel arches and underbody guard are optional add-ons.

The interiors carry the trademark Audi style and comfort. Even when it compare it to Q7, you are unlikely to rate the Audi Q3 any less in terms of interiors. The cabin is done up in two shades. Rich wood trims and leather adorn the interiors. Even the plastic parts bear a stamp of quality in general. MMI finds place in the form of MMI 'lite' but it is there nonetheless. As you turn on the ignition, the screen pops up from the dashboard. The gear lever comes with double-stitched leather covering. The bucket seats at the front or the bench at the rear are not the usual Audi size but extremely comfortable nonetheless. The headroom at the front may prove insufficient. The boot space of 650 L is all thanks to the saving on space on spare tire placement.
