In what can be called yet another blow to traditional media outlets, German automaker Audi have chosen their Facebook page to debut their new 2012 Audi S5 Special Edition rather than unveiling it via a press conference/release. Details and a pic of the vehicle was posted to the Audi’s wall on the social networking site which has generated over 11,814 “likes” and 1,408 "shares” along with 314 comments already.

The automaker’s post on Facebook revealed that the special edition vehicle will be highly exclusive and just 125 copies of it will be made. The vehicle will be powered by the 4.2-liter V8 engine that will be pretty much retired from the Audi lineup (at least in its current configuration) along with the S5 coupe. The 354-hp engine will be mated to either a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic or a six-speed manual transmission.
However, since this special edition model most probably marks the end of the S5 coupe, Audi has left no stone unturned in making it as special as possible. On the inside, the 2012 S5 Special Edition gets a piano black instrument cluster carbon fiber trim and “Audi Exclusive” badges that have so far been limited to RS5 models sold outside the US. The impressive cabin also features floor mats with a contrasting silver leather border and contrasting Polar Silver and black leather and stitching on the upholstery. The exterior also gets features that have been reserved only for RS models so far like 5-spoke Rotor-style 19-inch wheels and the super-exclusive Daytona Grey exterior paint.
