Bajaj Discover 125 Sports Tourer launched

Bajaj Auto is keen to retain its position as a major player in the Indian bikes market while working towards expansion at the same time. The competition in the bike market is intense with new models being launched in the entry level segment to counter the domination of Hero MotoCorp. Bajaj Auto works with a different philosophy to get more revenues even when the number of units sold is comparatively less against the competition. The background of the launch

The price of Bajaj's Discover Sports Tourer has not been disclosed as yet but given the fact that it does command a 20 percent margin on its models and is keen to continue with the same model, there is little to indicate that a price war is on the cards among the major players in the Indian bike segment. The premise of the launch of Discover 125 Sports Tourer is to give the customers access to great features in a bike without compromising on mileage. Design too remains a priority. It is generally observed that 100 cc or 125 cc bikes happen to be basic, no-frills models. Bajaj's Discover 125 Sports Tourer seeks to change that. The bike will be formally rolled out for buyers in June, likely in the second half.

The bike in question

Bajaj's latest patent technology finds a place in the bike in the form of DTS-iTwin Spark. The bike lays claim to be the one to produce the maximum power in the 125 cc bike category at 13 PS. A five speed gearbox accompanies the engine. In addition, the bike has a nitrox monoshock suspension. The high point of the bike is that it does not compromise on mileage numbers despite a focus on design and features. The Indian consumer can perhaps do with some spunk in the regular bland bike models.
