The new model would be significantly more potent that the R300 which comes with a 174 horsepower Ford-sourced 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The R300 is based on the 1,000 lbs chassis from the Lotus Seven though the British track car manufacturer has not revealed whether the new model will also be based on the same platform or not.

Around the time that Caterham first hinted at the possibility of a new track car coming out of their garages, reports suggested that the model will boast of a much more comfortable cockpit than any of the company’s previous offers and will come complete with a roof. Industry experts expect Caterham to release more details about the vehicle closer to its release next month.

The model remains one of the most anticipated models amongst driving enthusiasts around the world since the automaker’s vehicle provide them with a rare and simpler racing experience than other sports and track cars in the market which makes it a popular brand in countries like the U.S., Japan, Italy and the UK.
