Cisitalia 202 E Concept ready to be showcased at Geneva Auto Show

This year’s Geneva Motor Show is all set to feature a dazzling new concept car designed and built by students of Turin’s European Institute of Design. Dubbed the Cisitalia 202 E, the concept vehicle was developed by Master of Arts students from the institute’s Transportation Design program. The concept pays a tribute to the 1947 Cisitalia 202 created by Battista "Pinin" Farina which is recognized as one of the most important vehicles in the history of automobiles since it was one of the first few fashioned entirely out of a single body shell.

The modern day interpretation of the iconic vehicle, the Cisitalia 202 E features a 450 horsepower V8 engine and the rear-engined beauty boasts of a body created around the notion of depicting a "sculpture in motion". The "E" in the full-scale concept model’s moniker stands for "evolution" and the vehicle is clearly intended as a contemporary reworking of the iconic automobile though it does well not to dilute the purity of the design language of the original.

Since only 170 copies of the original 202 were ever built (one of which has been a part of the permanent collection at New York Museum of Modern Art since 1951), the Cisitalia 202 E Concept would be eagerly awaited by fans of classic Italian cars at the Geneva Motor Show.
