While you bike maniacs are busy fretting over your Ducatis and Yamahas, we took a moment to remember the speed demons that came before us. This steam-powered motorcycle was made in 1947 by Bellingham, WA native Ray Cliff. The inventor spent his working years in various fields including photography, machine shop, mechanical engineering and drafting. The bike is thought to be Ray’s only steam-powered venture. He sold it before he moved to Seattle in 1949, and there is not much info on what became of the bike after that. What a shame ’cause it would have been a worthwhile creation for modern innovators to peek at! Peep more pics of the beauty after the jump.
