1988 Pontiac Fiero converted into Lambo Diablo with BMW V12 hearbeat

What do you get when you cross a 1988 Pontiac Fiero with a Lamborghini Diablo and have it get a heart transplant from a BMW? Apparently, this. Yep! An auto fan has had the courage to go for what’s never been done before and has come up triumphant with a monstrosity that delights us with its charm and can-do spirit.

This conversion is based upon a 1988 Pontiac Fiero frame although the maker has done his best to wrap that fact up as cleanly as he could with an unpainted fiberglass body mimicking the Diablo VT 6.0 that has been welded to the tubular steel frame. The conversion gets brake rotors from a Corvette and comes with genuine 18-inch 2004 Lamborghini Murciélago stock wheels wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero rubber.

A BMW M70 5.0 L V12 engine from the E32 7-Series and E31 8-Series of the Bimmer, powers the mod and has been fixed up with an Audi Getrag 016 5-speed manual transmission. Much work on the engine still remains with the wiring, sensors, clutch, ECU and flywheel yet to be installed. Other unfinished items on the conversion include interior fiberglass components, switchgear graphics, OEM taillights, door glass, an aluminum gauge panel and stainless steel exhaust tips, although the good thing is that seller is including all this in the final package.

The seller definitely thinks that the conversion is worth the USD 11, 100 that he’s asking for, even though he is candid enough to point out that the car isn’t actually finished and that it cannot actually be driven anywhere - it has to be towed since it’s a project car!
