"Nobody knows Indian roads better"

Chevy Camaro powered Drag Bike may just drag you to hell

The latest UN report states that over 1.3 million people are killed in traffic related accidents every year. But that isn’t stopping speed-demons from dreaming of the day when drag racers would be made road legal. When (and if) that day ever comes, we will surely see things like this Drag bike in our neighborhood struggling to not kill people in its wake.

The brainchild of Israeli designer, Eyal Melnick, the dragster features a 2010 Chevy Camaro 310hp V6 engine that lends the bike a fair degree of weight (approx. 340 kg). As a result, the bike has a low and wide stance which is balanced via the 1950mm long wheelbase. With a short centered exhaust located under the engine for mass centering, the bike is geared for optimum acceleration without losing stability.

The bare-naked shell of the bike however, is a bit too minimalistic for a dragster although the designer explains that the absence of aerodynamic frills is completely intentional. The effect that the designer hopes to achieve by doing away with extra body paneling is to reinforce the simple lines of the bike and have the design stand out from contemporary crowd as an iconic creation.

Extreme riding positions offers the muscle bike a brutal yet refined attitude while the arc-shaped chassis and suspensions set it apart from chopper and power cruisers. The extreme drag-sport riding stance is further exaggerated by the super-low handlebars and rider foot pegs that are located almost near the rear wheel axis.

The bike is estimated to displace around 310 hp which coupled with the extreme riding position make it very unsuitable for everyday use. Since the designer himself claims that the bike is not geared for top performance either, we are left a little confused about the role and use that the designer envisions for this public road drag bike.

Thanks for the info, Eyal Melnick!
