The 2012 Holden Colorado truck, which was developed and built in Australia, made its international debut at the 2011 Melbourne Motor Show. The all-new Colorado will pave the way for Holden in the highly competitive light commercial vehicle segment. The sturdy vehicle draws its power from a fuel-efficient 2.8l turbo diesel engine, which is a bit less displacement then the current version.

A 26-year graduate, Ben Last is leading the project with General Motor’s Brazilian and Thailand-based studios to make a perfect concept. Ben graduated from Monash University.
A 3.0 liter turbocharged engine which produces 160horsepower and 260pound feet of torque powers the current model. According to Holden, this is just one of a number of engines present in the new model. The company is yet to reveal the output of the new engine, but it should be somewhere between current engine’s output and the output by the new Ford Ranger that reads something like 147kW and 470nM.
Furthermore, it features an extended cab body built on all-wheel drive chassis and has a fresh design for the front fascia, bumpers, tailgate, and bonnet. It also includes various LED assemblies like headlights, taillights, daytime running lights. The 20-inch alloy wheels are satin finished. The interior of the Colorado will have an option of the blue leather seats. On most production models, the option of cloth upholstery design will be present.
The Colorado will go on sale in Thailand later next year when it will take on the newly launched Volkswagen Amarock, Ford Ranger and Mazda BT-50 and the current kings: Toyota Hilux and Nissan Navara. A bad news for the US customers, they are not seeing this truck anytime soon. The company will reveal full pricing and specifications closer to the Australian launch of the Colorado, in the first quarter of the next year.
