Audi launches entry level TT coupe for 2012

Audi TT is manufactured by German automaker and Volkswagen group. It is a roadster with a complete new exterior, interior, chassis, and Powertrain. It is larger than its predecessor. It is five inches longer and three inches wider. It is available in many colors. Among the luxury sports car it ranked 5 out of 8. It has more horsepower than 2010 model.

It is a car with beauty and sleek design but it is short on performance when we talk about sports cars. It is competing with BMW Z4, Nissan, 370z and Mercedes Benz SLK class.

First impression

Audi’s second generation TT Coupe represents the same original design evolved by the company with more daring styling. The vehicle is a 2-door, up to 4-passenger sports luxury. The new Audi TT Coupe is larger by five inches in length and three inches in width. The Audi’s TT Coupe is completely re-engineered vehicle. One of the most noticeable changes done in new TT Coupe is its new corporate face with more aggressive headlights coupled with a large grill, giving it a sportier look. Earlier versions of Audi TT come with options of 4-cylinder or 6-cylinder engines, making the selection complicated for its buyers and hence, making this simplified, the new Audi TT Coupe comes with just a 2.0 TFSI engine.

The powertrain

The new Audi TT Coupe comes to life with 2.0 TFSI engines which deliver 211 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The 6-speed transmission is coupled with Quattro all-wheel drive which gives the driver a real sense of driving a sports car. The TT Coupe reaches from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 5.3 seconds. The fuel economy is rated at 22 miles per gallon in city and 31 miles per gallon on highway.

The exterior and interior

The 24 piercing signature LED lights and high-intensity headlights adds distinct look to the vehicle. The LED lights improve the visibility using less energy than conventional bulbs. The front bumper and the rear bumper have also been designed to enhance the overall aesthetic of the Audi TT Coupe. The High-Gloss Black Single frame grille and chrome fog lights grille makes the look more assertive and exclusive. Adding to its spottiness, the new Audi TT Coupe comes with unique dual exhaust tips, which adds an aggressive and exclusive look to the vehicle. When it comes to interior, the sport seats with extendable thigh support and prominent side bolsters offers greater lateral support.

The power front seats allow the driver and passenger to adjust the seats position in forward or backward direction and as well as height and angle of seats. The rear view mirror automatically recognizes glaring bright beams behind the car and darkens the mirror automatically. The leather wrapped, sporty, magnesium, three-spoke, light weight multifunctional steering wheel includes the paddle shift for quick gear changes besides providing easy access to Bluetooth-enabled phone, audio volume control, and CD track selection. The Audi TT Coupe has DVD-based navigation system with full color 6.25” LCD screen and AM/FM and satellite functions. Keeping in mind the entertainment of the riders, the vehicle is equipped with dual SD card slots for MP3 music. The vehicle is also equipped with six-CD changer.

The vehicle is equipped with magnetic ride control, stronger brakes and a new version of Quattro all wheel drive. The vehicle has excellent front seats and plenty of space for the tallest drivers. Also the cargo space is much better than the other sports cars. The vehicle has 18’ wheels with summer performance tires, which makes the ride comfortable.

Price and availability

The Audi TT is likely to hit the roads next year. The company has set its starting price for TT Premium Plus as $38,300 and for TT Prestige as $44,400.
