Battery powered Skateboard to help you get lazier!

I can understand when you incorporate batteries in stuff which is supposed to either lead to better emission standards or maybe give it the much needed extra charge as in the case of a Segway with Fuel cells. But to able to charge up your skateboard and then to be able to use it for 10-12 miles on a single charge is nothing but a mere waste of technology. I do understand the purpose of putting some device that will run your skateboard by charging it up, but that takes away from the very essence of the picking up your board and hitting you sidewalks.

Yes, sure the new battery powered Skateboard hits from 0 to 20 mph in just 4 seconds, but that is not at all what represents the true delight of the Skateboard. It was designed to basically just pick it up and hit any turf you want and to be able to commute on your own without any hassles. It was not designed to be charged up over night. While it may be useful at times, it only ends up making people lazier.

Made by Crossbow USA out of Santa Monica, California, E-Glide skateboards use a 400-watt battery-powered engine to rocket from 0-20 mph in four seconds. Seven models of the E-Glide are available, ranging in size from 36″ to 48″, and the company uses decks from Sector 9, Madrid Skateboards, and Dewey Weber surfboards. The larger models go for 12-15 miles before needing a re-charge. Prices range from $534-$574. So now basically you need not worry about getting home when you are tired or even bother to use your own energy. The idea might be good, but it takes away from the true delight of the skateboard. Maybe it can be used in super markets!
