Beckhams drive into LA

The Beckhams' cars arrived at their new home in LA before the beckhams did, no green thoughts there. David has chosen an Escalade with custom wheels and great interiors (a good choice), while wife Victoria settled on a Bentley GT convertible. A clear go away to the go-green campaign. Victoria's GT is rumored to be a gift from Tom Cruise.

LA's new celebrity couple was welcomed by around 300 fans crammed outside the airport terminal. David and Victoria were driven off in a black Lincoln Navigator. David Beckham will be paid about $1M a week from Major League Soccer team Los Angeles Galaxy.

What would you do if you were among the highest paid sportspersons with money to burn? Buy cars!! The Beckhams' garage could make anyone cringe with envy. David is known to be a car collector. He has owned nearly all of the 'must own' rides one could think of.

Cars ranging from Lamborghini Gallardo to a large number of high end Ferraris, Porsches, Mercedes-Benzes have all gone through his hands. One of his first cars, the 1996 BMW M3 was sold for £90,000 on eBay. Some of the cars he presently owns include the Hummer H2, Bentley Continental GT and the Porsche 911 (993) turbo.

What remains to be seen is whether this sporting giant turns to environment friendly green (hybrid) vehicles, which are slowly becoming a necessity in the US or continues on the same track. If he wants to swell his celebrity status in the US, a must have is a green machine in the courtyard.
