Bentley all geared to roar with diesel engine

When we all think of those exotic and luxury cars, one name that comes to mind is Bentley. However, with this heavy petrol guzzling beast, what irks us more is its emission rate. But things are going to change in the illustrious 92 years old history of the brand as it now pursues a diesel engine for its cars.

The diesel engine is intended to kill three birds, instead of proverbial two, with one stone. The introduction of diesel engine is expected to boost sales in Europe, improve economy and reduce the emissions as well. The move is also intended to give a challenge to Mercedes, BMW and Jaguar that sell a considerable number of diesel-powered vehicles every year.

On the top of this, there seems no harm in using the diesel engines as they can be far more powerful and fuel efficient. What inspires the brand more are many victories of diesel-powered vehicles at the Le Mans 24 hour endurance races. Nevertheless, it remains to be seen how successfully the brand creates a diesel engine that can redeem itself off the title of heavy petrol guzzling beast as well as put a challenge for its competitors to wry.
