Women are being pampered by young designers form Bentley. That's right. Students from the world famous RCA (Royal College of Art) joined hands with Bentley to create a series of interesting and novel designs for women. The famous British car company never had such exuberance flowing out of young minds before!

Bentley's top designers which included the likes of Robin Page and Brett Boydell joined hands with upto seventeen students from the Royal College of Art to create a series of travel products exclusively for women. Robin Page heads Bentley's Interior Design department while Brett Boydell is a senior designer.
The joint project was part of a design brief that consisted of a three quarter length travel coat (Car coat); driving shoes and an overnight bag meant for weekends. The project aimed at designing and making these products with a view to reflect Bentley's position in the luxury sector and also pick up design tips from their latest Continental GT.
The project has spun off a series of designs from the students who drew much of their inspiration from the rich design heritage of Bentley and keeping the ideals of making modern designs for women. Amongst the seventeen, three students have been shortlisted to further hone their designs with Bentley's Page and Boydell. They would be developing prototypes which stand to be displayed at summer's end of term. Rebecca Thomson aged 23, is one of the shortlisted students for the car coat design. The young lady from Southport, England had this to say about her experience :
“For my coat design I wanted to capture the spirit of the Bentley woman. The final design reflects Bentley's traditions through a more conservative washed silk cloth, mixed with the modern innovation of the developing Bentleys using a waterproof sports fabric. The lining of the coat is quilted for comfort and style, mirroring the beauty and fine detail of the Bentley interior. Like a Bentley exterior, the outer coat is simple, sleek and elegant using the lines to effectively frame the body.” Alvaro Gonzalez, 29, from Spain, said: “With my design I wanted to rethink a driving shoe and its shape, taking the essence of a court shoe and encapsulate it in rubber to achieve a visually effective design as well as a well functioning product. I looked into shapes from Bentley cars to create my shoe, but I abstracted and resized these shapes to create something new out of a Bentley root.”
The other two shortlisted students for the weekend bag and driving shoes are Louise van Hauen and Alvaro Gonzalez respectively.
