Is it a superhero in flight? The fluidity in lines, swept back headlamps, conspicuous yet neatly tucked in rear-hinged rear doors, ear-like roof mounted direction indicators, plush interiors…it could rather be poetry in motion. The teaser trailers go out and the news we have been waiting for has finally arrived. A treat to the eyes, the Dacia Duster concept makes a serious bid at taking the SUV segment by storm, purely on the basis of its superior aerodynamic efficiency (drag coefficient of 0.30). This fact oozes from every inch of this concept crossover, an offspring of the Nissan Qashqai, if we consider components and dimensions. A 1.5dCi engine that produces 105hp of power and 240Nm of torque powers the Dacia SUV. In line with today’s stringent emission norms, the maker has ensured that the car belches out not more than 139g of CO2/km.

The Renault-owned brand has made sure the interiors are meted out no step-motherly treatment. The smooth dashboard lines, expansive 280mm legroom at the front, a 20-ltr glove box, 8ltr stowage bins, and a sliding passenger seat (to free up space) complement the exterior of the SUV perfectly well. For space, comfort, performance (predictably so!) and stunning looks, the 4.25m long and 1.49m high Duster receives a big thumbs-up from us. Debuting at Geneva 2009, the Dacia Duster certainly has a date with destiny.
