You might be remembering the DSQUARED2 teasing the quirky Mini Cooper Red Mudder For 2011 Life Ball a couple of days back. However, awakening the spirit of adventure back into the limelight, the Canadian designer duo Dean and Dan Caten has launched a version of MINI Cooper S customized for the Life Ball 2011 in Vienna. With bull bars at the front, strong fog lights mounted atop the roof and widened wheel arches and fenders, this MINI adventurer looks all set for the mission call.
DSQUARED, a Canadian design studio created by twin brothers Dean and Dan Caten, have this year redesigned the BMW’s rally car MINI Cooper S as part of the Europe’s biggest AIDS charity event Life Ball. Every year a bizarre and unusual MINI is recreated for the Life Ball, the proceeds of which support projects combating HIV/AIDS and its awareness.
Since 2001 more than half a million Euros has been generated by these specially styled Life Ball MINI models on behalf of Aids Life. With the hullabaloo and interest generated by this year’s MINI Cooper S concept car, Gery Keszler, the founder and organizer of the Life Ball pointed out:
MINI has been a partner of the Life Ball for 11 years and each year it demonstrates anew its creativity, enthusiasm and passion for this good cause. This year’s Life Ball MINI designed by DSQUARED² provides further persuasive evidence of this.
This revamped MINI named the “Red Mudder” by the designers comes imprinted with Canadian influences of red color with a maple leaf designed on both doors and the DSQUARED logo on the front shield and wheels. Furthermore it is equipped with tough fighter features of a typical rally car like heavy front guard, headlamps, tinted side windows with grilles and the spare tire on the tailgate.
The deep-threaded tires to expedite all types of terrains, its raised chassis, a compass for guidance in hand and structured aluminium for floor mats make it an ideal friend for the challenging roads.
With the previous years of the Life Ball being hugely successful with the help of celebrated designers of the likes of Agent Provocateur, Donatella Versace, Diesel, Missoni and Gianfranco Ferré, Calvin Klein designer Francisco Costa etc., this year the expectancy from this Ball auction is immense specially this year being the 30th anniversary of the discovery of the HIV virus.
