Under “normal conditions,” a 1986 Pontiac Trans-Am can never be the fastest street legal car, but there aren’t many things classified “normal” in this world. With a bit of engineering genius, people at Norway’s Polly Motorsport have made the car lightning fast, or, to put it better, “Bugatti Veyron fast.” While the Veyron takes all the glory for going fast, sadly it has no official records to back its claim; the Trans-Am does.

This Pontiac has a recorded top speed of 407.134 kmph, and a quick acceleration that sees the car touching 100 kmph from zero in just 2.3 seconds. The car set its speed record at the Papenburg test track in Germany. Power comes from an 8.9-l V8 that generates a huge 1407 hp. The stock-looking car obviously doesn’t have much of the “stock” parts inside it, it’s all the work of Polly Motorsport.
