Facelifted 2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class is officially official

For all the Merce fans who are eager to lay their hands on the 2012 model might surely be delighted to see the face of 2012 Mercedes Benz C class. However, the fans shouldn’t expect a new model altogether but it’ll be a face lifted version of 2011 model.

The Base Model

There are considerable tweaks over the 2011 model - the best selling model available in four options: the 451-hp C63 AMG, the 268-hp C350 Sport and the 228-hp C300 Luxury and C300 Sport. The 2011 model had 451 mules under the hood and some of the major features of the vehicle include optional 4MATIC Four-Wheel Drive, a power sunroof, eight-way power front seats with lumbar support, two-zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth connectivity and a central controller with a five-inch display screen and many more.

Facelift

i)Engine: 2011 model of the Mercedes Benz has, though, gone through the considerable tweaks whereby the brand is presenting old package with new details. Most of the updates, however, are under the hood and Mercedes Benz is offering an all new four cylinder option for the US market. Also to mention some tweaks for the V6 powertrain in the top end C350. The major highlight in the engine lineup is the inclusion of V6 gasoline engine in the C350 Sport Sedan which is further added with the innovative and highly efficient BlueDIRECT process.

ii)Fuel economy in the new sedan has also been increased by 5% as all new direct engine additions come with exceptional efficiency and eco-friendly fuel consumption and a totally redesigned seven speed automatic transmission having gear ratio optimized for eco friendliness. With all these things added together, the C350 sedan with 3.5-liter V6 now produces 302 hp and 273 lb-ft, gains of 34 hp and 15 lb-ft over the outgoing model.

On the other, the four-cylinder engine, only for the US market, features a direct injection and turbocharging and is also distinguished by outstanding combined fuel economy of 24 mpg. This marks an improvement of nearly 15% compared with the 2011MY C300.

iii) Design tweaks: design tweaks in the new model include new aluminum hood, slightly redesigned headlamps and LED running lamps down below which are almost similar to that of 2011 model, which many feel is still attractive design wise. The bumpers are now more distinctively designed with front end receiving a new design language from the brand. The grill is further enhanced and the out board bumpers in the front bumpers are fixed low, adding more to its muscular looks. No changes, exactly, can be spotted in the rear end.

iv) Tweaks in the interior: Offering the total comfort, muscular face and scintillating performance, the interior of the 2012 Mercedes Benz are also upgraded with LED running lamps down below. Talking about the driveline and the safety systems, the new vehicle is equipped with five new assistance systems that include attention assist, lane keeping assist, blind spot assist, adaptive highbeam assist and parktronic help keep things in check out on the road.

Inspiration

Since more than one million sold since March 2007, Mercedes Benz wants to make it even better and efficient so that it can attract more people. The inspiration was to make the car more energetic, expanded, efficient, experienced and exceptional.

The difference

2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class gets a very modest facelift for the new model year. And the difference can be spotted in all the three fields – the exterior, interior and the powertrain.

There are scores of parts that make new generation of Mercedes Benz stand apart from its predecessor. Fuel economy has been enhanced by 15% in some models, thanks to new direct-injection versions featuring unparallel efficiency and co-friendly fuel consumption.

On the other, inclusion of V6 gasoline engine in the C350 Sport Sedan, featuring the innovative and highly efficient BlueDIRECT process. Now the power tally goes to 302 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque (previously 268 hp and 258 lb-ft), while fuel economy has been improved by 5% to the outgoing C350model. Adding more to the number of differences are five new assistance systems that include attention assist, Adaptive Highbeam Assist, Park Assist w/ PARKTRONIC, Lane Keeping Assist, and Blind Spot Assist.
