Fiat planning a convertible for the 500

Fiat 500 is one of the most decorated cars, it has a long list of awards including the European COTY award. The model is about to get another trim, Fiat has confirmed that a convertible version of the 500 is on the anvil and could be unveiled this summer. Details on the convertible version are scarce, but engineers at Fiat will have to work overtime to ensure that the model does not loose the class leading five-star Euro NCAP occupancy rating.

This in turn implies that Fiat may well go with a Targa trim for enhanced protection in the new model.
