Fisker to show off new crossover at 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show

Anaheim, California-based American automaker Fisker Automotive is the only carmaker in the world who along with the now iconic Tesla, has created world's first true extended range EV. The company’s signature brand, the Fisker Karma, has already proven to be a worthy rival to the Roadster in the extended-range electric sports sedan segment and now the firm is looking to branch out with a whole new line up of models.

Fisker has revealed that a new crossover model with features from the SUV as well as the salon models will be revealed at the 2011 Frankfurt auto show. The unnamed model is expected to hit production a little later and will be available sometime next year. Fisker who are ready to debut their Karma in the European markets, will be looking to use the fame of the sportster to gain momentum for the new model.

The company also has an S-coupe/convertible variant of the 2009 Karma up its sleeve as well as the Nina, both of which are expected to go into production by 2013.

Although the company has not yet revealed any details about the unnamed crossover, the pre-production model that it shows should give audiences a fair idea of other models that the company is currently developing, including a 4-wheel drive variant of the Karma itself that will feature a 2-speed trans to better the on-road performance as well the fuel efficiency of the model.
