"Nobody knows Indian roads better"

Four year in the making, Brazilian bagger's car from scrap

A homeless man in Brazil has shown the world that we can get the best of the waste to come up with products which can be very useful. The homeless Brazilian Orismar de Souza used junk parts of old fiats to come up with a brand new car. The car sporting a 125cc motorcycle engine has been built entirely from scrap, incredible isn’t it? The car can touch a high-speed of 50mph on the highway and it has a reverse gear as well. de Souza loves music so he has installed an in-dash stereo in his car as well.

The 35-year-old, a resident of San Jose de Piranhas (CP), used to beg in the streets of Brazil for his livelihood but he always had the dream of driving a car. Though poverty forced him to beg to survive, De Souza followed his passion and he started building cars with oil can when he was just 9 years old.

It is said that when you follow your passion with full dedication, you will get support and it happened with de Souza also. A neighbor gifted hammer and chisel to Orismar and he used to cut the first steel plates from the junk spare parts.

I turned a joke. I remember when I saw a man riding a gate in a house and asked him where he bought steel sheets. He laughed in my face and said I was crazy when I said I wanted to build a car.

He told to G1.

He has named his one-of-a-kind 'mobile shrimp' and had been hungry to save money and to buy the material needed for the bodywork of his dream machine.

I would stop eating to gather all the necessary money. In four months I have gathered $ 450 and went into town to buy the plates. Nobody believed, everybody laughed at me. I was very humbled by this, but I won and I built my car alone with my own hands.

The creator toiled hard to earn the $270 which was required for the car's metal plating. He used his hands to build the body panels using just a chisel and hammer. de Souza’s hard work did not go unnoticed as the ‘mobile shrimp’ helped him land both a home and a job. De Souza is an example for many of us who always crib at the lack of resources for coming up with something extraordinary.
