In order to fight the growing pollution level, many automakers like Ford, GM, DaimlerChrysler, Toyota etc are engrossing themselves into R&D so that they can contribute to a cleaner, safer environment. In addition to these companies mentioned, is Honda, which was recently awarded a US patent to lower the threat posed by its vehicles to the environment.

Therefore, to meet the stringent US diesel emissions level, Honda will use an electrically-powered plasma reactor that converts oxides of nitrogen other than NO2 to NO2 and oxidize PM. With this, Honda hopes to meet both California LEV II LEV and EPA Tier 2 Bin 5 diesel emissions requirements in the US.
