The Beast:
The brainchild of Thiruvananthapuram, India based techie Noble J. Bhasi, this single wheel bike may not exactly be the first one of its kind in the world, but it certainly is a first for the subcontinent. The 27-year old Hyundai service adviser developed the rolling wonder at a cost of Rs 50,000 (roughly $1000) and claims that the bike works just as well as a regular two-wheeler.

The Machine:
Powered by a 100cc Kinetic Honda engine, the bike features a small wheel inside the bigger 60-inch wheel that holds the rider, the seat and the mechanics in place while riding. The rider can control the bike with his/her body movements and with some steady and balanced riding, can even take the 35 and 40 kmph in ideal conditions.
The Thrill:
Since the state of the roads in most parts of India often doesn’t leave you wishing for more thrills during any kind of commute through the country, this single wheel bike might not be such a great idea for the average folk. But for those daredevils blessed with a gymnast’s body, a dopehead’s brain and a high threshold of pain, the nifty two-wheeler can surely be the family vehicle of choice.
