Jaguar confirms XF-derived wagon

Jaguar has announced plans to launch a rival to the successful Audi A6 Avant that would in effect be a wagon derived from the XF. No report yet on how far ahead the new Jaguar XF wagon is developmentally, but the announcement comes as a part of the firm's already established long-term scheme in which the British brand plans to launch 40 updates on its major labels which will be inclusive of derivative versions of current models.

The Jaguar Land Rover group has let out that a future XF wagon variant could be brought to Australia, although as a limited-edition model. The last time the company tried their hand at the wagon with the X-Type, it didn’t return much of an enthusiasm from buyers. But the makers believe that the revamped XF estate would provide sufficient challenge to giants in the model line like the Audi A6 Avant, the BMW 5 Series and 3 Series Touring.

Wagons have a huge presence in the European market and a new five-door XF-derivative could be the perfect model for the enterprise in the segment. The new entry-level XF will come with a 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine much along the lines of the Audi.

No other details regarding what could be seen in the new wagon have been released yet though sources from the company maintain that the wagon version of the XF sedan is expected to have some major improvements in the design. Reps for the company are also keeping mum on the price and availability of the vehicle for the time being.
