Japanese Bullet N700 goes Eco-friendly

The history of bullet trains dates back to 1964, the year of Tokyo Olympics symbolizing the rebirth of the nation from the catastrophe caused by the Second World War and claiming itself as a new economic power of the world.

With the new N700 there is no rush for speed; its first priority goes to comfort & ecology. It is capable of reaching 186miles an hour making it 17.5 miles faster then its predecessor a bit, if not marginal. Talking about speed it was never in the race, the new N700 emphasized on environmental wakefulness and a little of more comfort against increase in the speed levels.

Its developers did not want it to be a competitor of French TGV. Both its developers are private companies - Central Japan Railway and West Japan Railway and they were in a mood to go for a more comfortable and environment friendly train. An estimated cost of 260 billion yen ($2.1 billion dollars) has been invested to develop and build the next N700.

And if we believe some of the Japanese Railway officials it is the fastest bullet train ever made and run in Japan. It is the first bullet train overhaul since the year 1999 and uses a new Automatic Train Control (ATC) system, which maintains its pace and steadiness during the curves. Also, it has a boost of 30% more acceleration, which enables it to reach its top speed in comparatively less time.

The new N700 made its debut on Sunday at Shinagawa Station in Tokyo at 6am in the morning and departed to the Hakata, Fukuoka. The two railways celebrated the event as the train was packed with 1300 passengers even on Sunday morning.

Another N700 bullet train made its way from Shin Osaka station to Tokyo also starting at 6am. Kyoto would be a regular stoppage for the N700 courtesy, namesake of the ground-breaking environmental treaty. JR Tokai President Masayuki Matsumoto explained, "These train cars are no doubt top-end cars, designed with our cutting-edge technologies."

The N700 will use 19% less electricity then its predecessors which would lead to lesser of CO2 emissions & a cut on energy consumption. It contributes appreciably in an effort answering global warming.

Unlike the trains in use now, it is not going to have any smoke section; instead it will have sealed and ventilated rooms to light up that cigarette. As the Japanese are more of technology freaks, there are electric plugs installed to every seat, with a jack plug in headphones to enjoy a music collection.

For more passengers comfort first class level is compared to the business class of the airways, it has chairs which can tilt backward upto 120 degrees with adjustable footrests and is also envisaged with 15-centimeters wide arm rests. Passengers will also be able to surf through the internet while traveling with a new service planned by the railway operator. However, it will take time because first wireless LAN equipped trains will take some time to arrive at the platforms.

In all it will be a smooth ride which goes smooth on environment as well on a cool looking high on technology bullet train. It will act more efficiently then acting faster.
