For places where the sun is strong, using solar power makes a lot of sense. Richard Gryzch made himself a solar-powered motorcycle, which can cover 50 miles of ground and reach a top speed of 90 mph. The bike sounds good to us, but its inventor has a whole lot more resting on the bike’s potential. He has sold his home and a number of other bikes to finance this one.

Gryzch hasn’t been very forthcoming with details on his “Solar Flyer,” and apparently, the bike harvests solar energy using flexible solar panels on its body. There’s no mention of how long it takes to recharge the bike, but the inventor is hard at work on the Solar Flyer, aiming to increase range to 300 miles.
