"Nobody knows Indian roads better"

Mazda MX-5 reincarnated as a rat rod

Quite normally, a Mazda MX-5 and then a dusty old rat rod don't coexist in automotive spectrum. But, not to an American car enthusiast. This man has made into the news when he combined the two into a bespoke machine. Looking at the image above, it is incredible that the pictured vehicle has born in the Mazda factory as an MX-5 convertible.

The enthusiastic American owner was driving his 1996 MX-5 merrily until a day when he was hit from behind and then the drop-top of the car was wrecked. Instead of throwing it in the bin, he rather wanted to do cheeky and different. He salved the engine, transmission, rear differential, gauges, suspension and steering components from the Mazda and then later customized a frame from the remains of the old and damaged car. Later, the front and the rear frames were attached, and this was the beginning of a new design.

In order to maintain a rat rod look, he had to create a grille by turning two Ford guard covers from the 1960s and then had to weld them firmly, together. The headlamps were taken from a 1940s era Packard, and then regarding the bonnet, the ornament from a 1941 Cadillac was the inspiration. The seats inside the cabin have been taken from Monte Carlo of the 1970s.

So clearly, the whole package is going to works very well and the owner is also going to get the full rat rod look with both the dependability and kinetics of a Mazda MX-5. Have a look at the latest images of the MX-5 Rat Rod in the gallery below.
