Yesterday Mercedes launched two models of the Mercedes-Benz Telephone Module with Bluetooth (SAP-Profile): a 373 euros Closed-Box System or a Handset with Handrest and Passive Cable-Connected Receiver for 406 euros.

With the use of these devices, users can operate their Bluetooth (SAP-Profile) compatible phones via the multifunction steering wheel, audio system, and central display without touching their cell phone.
Initially, the system has to be paired up with a compatible cell phone. Thereafter, it automatically recognizes the phone, accesses its SIM card and internal memory when it comes within the range of the vehicle.

It all looks very impressive, but the problem is: what happens when the owner loses his cell as users have to be constantly within their vehicle's range to utilize the system? Then what is the point of being handless and mobile. Besides, it is compatible with very few cell phones Nokia 6230 and 8800, Siemens S65, SK65, S75 and SL75.
