Known for building its prototypes into limited-run models in near-unchanged form, Morgan is yet again on a path to stick to its legacy. The brand has decided to put two of its cars into production in the next three years to compliment new Eva GT and current range. Charles Morgan, the managing director of the brand, revealed that one of the two models will be called LIFEcar 2, but he was tight lipped to disclose anything about the second car, except that it will be a “fun weekend vehicle”.

The original Morgan LIFEcar was unveiled in concept form at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show; but the coming LIFEcar 2 is an electric-diesel hybrid sportscar with a range of 1000 miles, 15 mile EV range, a typical large fuel tank size of 20 gallons, that would equate to roughly 50mpg average at least. It gets a sprint from 0-60mph in 7 seconds, not too impressive indeed but a mileage of 50 mpg isn’t too bad for any vehicle with quirky retro style and entertaining driving dynamics.
Despite its city car name, the LIFEcar 2 will be a sports car above all else. This ultra lightweight vehicle weighing merely 800kg and is not only fuel efficient with low carbon output, but it can easily be recycled at the end of its long life, thanks to sustainable lightweight materials used in its production. The information about the second vehicle from Morgan is scant and all we know is that it’ll be more extreme with a focus on entertainment.
