Next generation Fiesta will keep its name

Earlier reports had suggested that Ford will drop the name Fiesta for its upcoming hatchback. A name derived from the Verve concept on which the car is based was on the cards, but as Auto Express reports, officials at Ford have changed their mind.

Officials at Ford were unwilling to do-away with a name that has been around for 30years and is well recognized. After the Verve concept (pictured) was unveiled at Frankfurt Motor Show in September, there were strong hints that the next Fiesta would look like the concept and also be named after it.

The new car will definitely be inspired by the show car, but will not take its name. Likely to reach dealerships in November next year, the new Fiesta will be offered in three-door and five-door body styles.
