This year’s SEMA show will see lot many cool rides as always, one of them is the corner carver-Dodge Challenger SRT8 ACR. Mopar underground team will reveal their new Challenger mostly built with Mopar catalog to pay homage to the Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR that recently claimed production car lap time record at the Nurburgring. The discontinued Viper SRT10 ACR posted a new record lap time of 7:12:13 in Germany.

It is a heavy and big car, so do not expect that you can win a race that includes only left and right turn instead of a straight road at least for a quarter mile. In this year’s One Lap of America, a SRT8 ACR driven by two Dodge engineers ranked third, leaving new Camaro SS behind. In the same event, it finished with 14th rank by beating cars like 2011 BMW M3 and 2010 Corvette ZR1.
First look
Mopar underground created the Challenger SRT8 ACR based on the Challenger SRT8 392. Apart from that, the company is also influenced by the success of Viper SRT10 ACR and Drag Pak Challenger. It packs added power, lighter curb weight, and improved handling. Overall, the new Challenger is an animal with as much bark as its cornering bite. It may not be the best choice for a weekend trip car but when it comes to occasional high performance driving event, you can rely on this one.
What’s new?
Track focused SRT8 ACR comes upgraded with many Mopar performance parts including, rear and front strut tower bases, front splitter, custom exhaust headers, coil cover suspension, short throw shifter, cat back exhaust and a set of Good year F1 super car tires. In addition, the rear seat will be absent and replaced by a roll bar that makes the car lighter and more track focused.
What’s been refreshed?
The exteriors are similar to famous Viper SRT10 ACR. It sports white body, carbon fiber hood, tail lamp surround and rear spoiler, charcoal painted roof, rear deck lid and an offset flame red strip that runs on the length of car.
The machine
The incredible machine packs 6.4 liter HEMI V8 470 horsepower engine and an adjustable suspension system that makes it one of the best muscle cars. Suspension has been completely overhauled because of a set of coilovers and brace caps in the rear and front. There are exhaust headers that works through cat back system and increases the power output and sound. Two more minor accessories include carbon fiber bezel kit and door still entry guards.
On the exterior, the red painted mirror caps and black painted five spoke 20 inches alloy wheels with red brake calipers completes the design of the car.
In the cabin, you will see bucket seats with openings for racing harness, a Mopar Drag Pack centre stack, carbon fiber door panels and console, an SRT steering wheel with three spoke and flat bottom, custom bright pedal kit and SRT instruments. The white and red theme also carries over to the interiors; there are red accents on carbon fiber door panels, red door latch release door tethers, accents on the carbon fiber seats covered with Katzkin leather, red armrest bars with white foam padding and red painted roll bars. Finally, there is a fire extinguisher inside because which racing car is complete without an extinguisher?
What’s good
The car is track focused and had stylish exteriors. It has an engine that can give you ultimate performance without taking any breath. Apart from the HEMI V8, it comes with many other performance upgrades that will help the user on racetracks as well as in other conditions.
What’s not so good
Right now, it will be too early to describe any of the negative point of the muscle car because Dodge has kept many details secret. Let us wait for the debut of the car in SEMA, Las Vegas and then we will be able to know and talk more.
Price and availability
The company has not announced any release date or price range yet, we have to wait until the SEMA show to know whether ACR will go into production. And if it does, then when?
Wrap-up
Unfortunately, Dodge has offered only one picture of the awesome Challenger SRT10, so right now we cannot say much about it but this muscle car looks like a true fighter, so be prepared to be impressed after its debut. It looks like one of the hottest car brought by Dodge in SEMA, so stay tuned for more excitement and information.
