Prosthetics allow a person to drive a car through a special nerve-car connection

This may sound cyborg-like business, but it is quite a breakthrough in prosthetic technology. Christian Kandlbauer lost both arms in an accident two years ago, and was given thought-controlled prosthetic arms. Now, German companies Otto Block and Paravan have come together and created a system that lets Christian drive a car.

Paravan is specialized in manufacturing modified cars for those with disabilities, and with Otto Block’s involvement, the car for Christian has been specially created to connect the remaining nerve endings at the site of amputation, to a car that is specially modified to accommodate them. Christian Kandlbauer can now drive a car, in fact, he has passed a drivers’ test and drives himself for the daily commute.
