Reveal: 2012 Acura TSX Special Edition

First impression

How does a famous car brand celebrate its 25th birthday? Simple, by coming up with a special edition model just to give its customers a slice of its happiness. Acura is all ready to enter its 25th year of making automobiles and is ready to celebrate with its new 2012 Acura TSX Special Edition, which will be unveiled at the Orange Country International Auto Show in September. The sumptuous coupe is a sports version of its sedan and has been blessed with some aggressive features, which will perfectly blend with the lifestyle of today’s youth. The car comes draped in a sporty avatar and gets a comfortable inside and an outer skin worth gawking at.

The powertrain

The dainty coupe comes fitted with a 2.4 liter four cylinder engine under its hood. A buyer will be endowed with a flexibility to choose from either a Sequential SportShift 5-speed automatic transmission or a close-ratio 6-speed manual gearbox. This will inject enough power in the eye-appealing special edition and make it move at a great speed. It will produce 201hp and a torque of 172 lb-ft with the 5 speed automatic transmission, while the 6-speed manual transmission will pump the same horsepower and a little less torque. The 2012 Acura will come wrapped in some sporty features and vows to leave performance oriented customers impressed.

The exterior & Interior

The all new variant is a special edition and its exterior and interior has also got a special treatment. The silhouette is worth drooling at and has been given an aggressive appearance with exclusive side sills, a fresh front spoiler and rear bumper. These shower the coupe with a sporty aura and the color red makes it look like an angry beast. The outside is well complemented with the inside that is both luxurious and comfy. The seats come draped in punctured/perforated black Lux Suede and have a red backing. Usage of red and black gives birth to a deadly combination that will magically attract onlookers. The overall look gets a classy streak, thanks to the red stitching that decorates the seats, shift knob and the steering wheel. The pedal gets an aluminum cover, which has been heavily inspired from race car designs and adds sumptuousness to the footwell area. The coupe has been further flavored with dazzling silver plating that adds grace to the steering wheel embedded paddle shifters.

What’s new?

The 2012 Acura TSX Special Edition, without doubt, is a sporty version of its sedan. The coupe will come decorated with a ‘Special Edition’ badge nicely placed on the lid of its trunk. The outside has been given aggressive looks with a refreshed front spoiler. The appearance of the rear bumper has got an all new look, while the side sills will add more grace to the overall outline. The wheels get an all new polished look that have been placed against a gray background.

What’s refreshing?

TSX Special Edition will roll on specially made five-spoke aluminum wheels that measure 17 by 7.4 inch. The wheels, with a dark gray background and a polished finish, are quite refreshing and will churn on the roads leaving an everlasting impression. The way it has been tweaked, in terms of style, will definitely capture hearts of young buyers/riders. It will come caked with added sportiness and will not fall short of style.

Price and availability

The 2012 Acura TSX Special Edition will make its first official appearance on September 22, at the upcoming Orange Country International Auto Show. The price tag this edition will come slashed with is still a mystery. But, going by Acura source and the fact that this pretty coupe has been crafted keeping young buyers in mind, the price should stay somewhere in the middle of TSX lineup. The car will go on sale in late September.
