The futuristic Sky Taxi concept from designer Rizki Tarisa is an entry to the KLM Indonesia aircraft design competition. The concept looks 85 years into the future to create an acceptable rapid transport system for the city of Jakarta. The idea is that by the year 2094, the number of people traveling to diverse locations would have increased enormously, and so would have the frequency of travel. To meet these requirements, rather than depend upon a single high capacity airplane, multiple small capacity Sky Taxis could be used.

The Sky Taxis will be medium capacity, high speed aircrafts that would have small but numerous “Sky Hubs” or sky taxi stations. Such coverage can reduce transit and refueling time, thus offering consumers a quick ride for medium to small distances. These taxis could work in a way very similar to the current taxi system, only they would be airborne.
