There are a whole lot of zero-emission and low emission cars coming up, but as Tree Hugger points out, the same is not case with the flying machines. The SkySpark electric plane whose simple name somehow works as a tongue-twister for me, is a step in the right direction. SkySpark has been built on a Pioneer Alpi 300 using a 75kW electric motor using brushless technology at its heart. A lithium polymer battery feeds the electric motor.

The plane took flight from the Turin Aeritalia airport, during the World Air Games 2009 and reached a top speed of 250 kmph during its eight minute flight. Its flight was a success, and entered the plane in record books for the top speed record for an electric aircraft.
