Smart Car vending machine spotted in Japan

Here’s an innovative idea to make car-buying really simple. Just go to Japan, find this giant vending machine, pop in $20,000 in the slot and pick from the Coupe and Cabrio version of the Smart Car. Of course the machine won’t give a big groan, giggle and thud the car out like a bar of chocolate, but it will dispense a branded tube containing pamphlets on the new models, dealer info, and a sheet of Smart Car stickers to make you feel better about having just fed 20 grand in a vending machine! Anywho, since Smart Cars have just made it from Europe to Japan, it only seemed like a fair enough marketing gimmick to have the eight-feet long car showcased in a seemingly realistic but fake vending machines in a high traffic area of the Japanese train station Shibuya and even though I have no idea how many people actually went on to buy the thing, I'm sure many of them certainly would have had a lot of fun with the stickers.
