Stunning Mercedes-Benz LeMans Electric Race Car Concept

The electric race car craze is sweeping through the auto-design circles and the latest entrant in the field is the Mercedes-Benz Lemans Electric Race Car Concept by Milan, Italy-based Turkish designer Ozgun Culam. The conceptual electric race car concept looks to prove its metal in one of the most grueling auto events known to man, the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Designed to be lightweight and swift, the streamlined concept features four electric engines, one at each wheel, that propel the spaceship-style carbon fiber chassis. The wide skirting along the car’s sides allows it to maximize its aerodynamic impact with the large spoilers providing the design with extra stability.

The concept features two cooling intake ducts on its bonnet that help keep the engine and brake ducts from overheating and use the air intake holes of the iconic Mercedes-Benz to create a brand identity. Also reminiscent of the Merc-B identity are the characteristically designed wide grill with the brand’s logo and iconic two wings adorning the front spoilers.

The most interesting feature on the design however, is the fighter jet-style glass-wrapped cabin that interestingly enough comes without a full-fledged roof but the designer explains that the wraparound form of the extended windscreen should make up for any loss in aerodynamics.
