"Nobody knows Indian roads better"

The Virginia Beach Monster Fire Truck is a heart winner

Recipient of the 2003 Federal Bureau of Investigation Director’s Community Leadership Award, the Virginia Beach Monster Fire Truck is a promotional and educational tool that has been a regular fixture around the town’s Hampton Roads area with the stern fire safety message- Learn Not To Burn- airbrushed on its side. The truck, originally a 1944 Seagrave fire engine, was purchased for the city fire department by firefighter Don Moss, who collaborated with scores of students from auto shop, diesel tech, welding, auto paint, and body classes at the Virginia Beach Technical and Career Education Center (VOTECH) to bring the Monster Truck into being. With year-round appearances schedule booked sometimes well in advance, the truck has become a real mascot for the city’s fire department. Whether that has resulted in lesser cases of fire breakouts, seems to be almost irrelevant compared to the beauteous beast!
