Fiat has chosen to give the world a taste of the 2013 Fiat Panda 4x4 before it makes an official world debut at the Paris Auto Show next month. The new small crossover is the latest generation of model which was first introduced to the world some 30 years ago. The only all-wheel drive vehicle in the A-segment, the Panda 4x4 is based on the regular five-door hatchback Panda though it as given a distinctly sporty look by designers at the Fiat Centro Stile via silver-colored skid plates, bumpers and wheel arches with black moldings around them and chunky door sills in black. Covered with 175/65 R15 M+S tires, the 15-inch alloy wheels on the all-wheel drive model give the vehicle an even tougher look.

The 2013 Fiat Panda 4x4 rides on a 2,300mm wheelbase and stands 1,600mm tall, 1,670mm wide and 3,680mm long. The panda will be available in all the regular Fiat color finishes with metallic Toscana green and pastel Sicilia orange finishes being developed especially for the model. Inside the cabin, the 2013 Fiat Panda 4x4 comes with new console over the center tunnel that improves in-cabin storage. The cabin also features door panel and seat upholstery with the dashboard being given an additional new green frame.
The 2013 Fiat Panda 4x4 will be offered in a choice of two engines- 1.3-L MultiJet II diesel engine outputting 74 hp and 0.9-L TwinAir Turbo petrol engine outputting 84 hp. According to road grip conditions, traction is distributed between the front and rear axle by an electronic control unit that manages the Panda 4x4;s permanent four-wheel drive system. A six-speed manual transmission and a Start & Stop system will be offered as standard with both engines. Other standard fittings on the model include Electronic Locking Differential (ELD) function and an Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system. Fiat will release more details about the vehicle when it is debuted at the Paris Auto Show in late September.
