"Nobody knows Indian roads better"

Indian scientist uses water to make his car more fuel efficient

These days various types of weird devices are flooding the market and promising to slash your fuel bill by improving your car mileage or maybe even completely eliminating the need to buy fuel/gasoline. An Indian scientist, Prof. Y.K. Vijay, (Director of Center for Development of Physics Education, University of Rajasthan) has recently developed an affordable technique to boost the fuel efficiency of our four wheelers. He experimented this on his Nissan Sunny 1988 model car which, according to him, came out as inexpensive one.

The term referred to the equipment used is CFPK (Catalytic Fuel Production Kit). It helps in lowering the usage of the fossil fuel and reducing the consumption of conventional fuel by producing combustible hydrogen. This fuel is supplied to the available fuel giving out another constituent of hydrogen. ‘Water electrolysis’ is the principle behind all this innovation i.e. water (H2O) gets decomposed into oxygen (O2) and hydrogen gas (H2) due to an electric current which has been passed through the water. Common salt is the electrolyte that has been used in this technique.

To add more to this, Professor Vijay is using CFPK in his car for the last one and a half year which in turn justifies the procedure that he has invented on his own. Now the question arises what had been the result like? There was a remarkable 10 to 15 % enhancement in the fuel economy of the car. Simply remarkable, one can say.

Now if all you people who have future plans to get this equipment installed in your respective vehicles, the overall expenditure would be approx. INR 10,000 which again proves to be less expensive. This is something that can surely count for the day to day hike in the fuel prices. This method deployed by Professor Vijay has been practiced with petrol and LPG while the use of diesel as a fuel like showcased in the entire process is under development. We hope it’ll come soon too.
