Immensely powerful, perfectly flashy and as eye catching as an Hollywood A-lister, the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 firmly exemplifies everything that is associated with a "supercar." With its somewhat brash and intimidating style, it has an uncontested road-presence that few others of its compatriots could match. Although in Spanish, Murcielago is used to denote a "bat," the Italian carmaker claims that the name actually represents a fiercely belligerent Spanish bull that earned fame during the 19th century for winning bullfights consistently. Being Lamborghini's most favored sports car for close to a decade, the Murcielago has stood rightfully acquired the legacy left behind by its V12-engine powered predecessors namely the Countach and Diablo.

Lamborghini Murcielago Performance

The Lamborghini Murcielago is available in two distinct body styles -- coupe or convertible and both are powered by a 6.5-liter V12 engine. The engine produces 632 horsepower and 487 pound-feet of torque. The 2010 edition saw major changes to its form and also the addition to its name of LP640, in relation to the unique positioning of its engine (longitudinale posteriore). The car's horsepower was also increased to 640 hp from the previous low of 580 hp and 487 lb-ft of Engine torque. A limited edition LP670-4 SuperVelocity model was introduced by the makers in the year 2010 whose engine was capable of producing 661 hp worth of horse power.

Murcielago has been made capable of delivering a maximum power of 426 kilowatt (580CV) at 7500 rpm. Additionally, the maximum torque that the car delivers is 650Nm at the rate of 5400rpm. A permanent four wheeled viscous traction transmission has been added to the car's inventory. A standard six-speed manual transmission has been installed in the Murcielago and an electronic gear or a paddle-shifted and automated-clutch manual gearbox has been made optional. The car picks up its acceleration from zero to hundred kilometers per hour in just 3.8 seconds and the car's top speed is over 330 kilometers per hour. The uniquely designed V12 6.2 liter aluminium engine is so powerful that it takes the steel and carbon fiber body of the vehicle to great speeds with negligible air friction because of the specifically designed aerodynamic body.
