Shelby American has taken the lid off its latest creation and the company has announced that it will showcase its new Super Snake model at Las Vegas’ Barrett-Jackson auction to be held at the end of September. The automaker will offer buyers the option of purchasing a stock GT500 and Shelby will then customize each vehicle according to the buyer’s specifications. Customization options include a choice of Bright Silver Metallic and Satin Black finish for the wheels as well as a range of base colors that will be finished in blue, silver, "Gloss White and Satin Black stripes.

The vehicle will also be offered with a number of enhancement options like a wide-body kit. The basic Super Snake package will endow the vehicle will a bespoke interior trim consisting of leather seats with two-tone upholstery. On the outside, the 2013 Shelby GT500 Super Snake will feature Super Snake and Shelby badging, 20-inch wheels and a Shelby-innovated fiberglass hood. Add ons offered for the model include front brake cooling ducts, Wilwood brakes, a Borla exhaust system and a custom cooling package.
The basic Shelby GT500 Super Snake comes with a 5.8-liter supercharged V8 engine that has a torque output of 631 lb-feet and displaces 663 horsepower. However, the vehicles will also be offered with a special supercharger upgrade that will allow the powertrain to boost its power output to a staggering 850 hp. The basic Shelby GT500 Super Snake will be priced at $28,995 with the supercharged model being sold starting at $39,995. Shelby has stated that just 500 copies of the GT500 Super Snake will be produced.
