LS1 engine shaped groom's cake makes a sweet bite

Not everyone in the world is mad about car parts and engines but everyone loves a good cake. And bride Sarah Karger decided to surprise her new husband with a car cake on her wedding reception that wouldn’t have her mother rolling her eyes. Sarah enlisted the services of baker extraordinaire Wendy Collinsworth to create a groom’s cake that would pay a tribute to the love that her new husband has in his heart for the LS1 engine-fitted Fox-bodied Mustang that he owns.

LS1 Engine Cake
This LS1 is't an engine but a Cake you can eat

The Fox body Mustang was built from a roller and the 6.0-L turbocharged LSX motor on it was built from a turbo kit by the car-mad couple as well. Running on 275 radials with a set of 5.80's on them, the car has all the material comforts that a couple can ask for including radio, heating and air conditioning though it is the Borg Warner S400 T6 turbo-fitted iron block LQ9 that turns the pair on. The cake replica of the engine thus becomes a testament to the baker’s auto know how and culinary skills alike.

The edible engine cake comes with edible pulleys, a delicious-looking intake manifold, spark plug wires in bright red that were probably fashioned out of Twizzlers and wooden studs that feature the heads. We can only hope that the baker provided one of those musical knives with pre-recorded engine sound to make the cake-cutting ceremony at the wedding very unique indeed.

Thank you for featuring the cake we did on your site. It was a lot of work, but fun to do for my clients. Btw, everything was edible...and the red spark plug wires were hand-sculpted out of fondant, not Twizzlers. ;) Better pics on my facebook page or website. Haute Cakes and Cookies: hautecc (dot com)
