Magnus-reinvention of Chang Jiang 750 by Bandit 9

Bandit 9 is a custom motorcycle designing company based in Beijing. Headed by Daryl Villanueva, the design house has two CJ750 build bikes on board and both of them have the capability to give you a royal feeling. If you remember, some time ago Bandit 9 released a nice Chinese custom Chang Jiang 750 motorcycle (CJ 750) called “Loki.” Now, Daryl is ready with beautifully designed Magnus, which is equally impressive as well as stunning like Loki. According to him, this bike will reinvent ex-military Chang Jiang motorcycle that is used as a base. Chang Jiang is a bike inspired by the WW2 era German BMW R71 and the Russian Ural.

One of the coolest properties of the bike is its color. Magnus is burnt rather than painted through a method that Daryl learnt in art school. He set frame, forks and the fuel tank on fire using oxyacetylene blowtorch and then removed the burnt layer to show the industrial patterning. I think, Daryl did not like the look of CJ 750, so he removed the elements that were not needed by the bike, the rear frame was shortened, the rear fender was dropped and old seat was replaced by a beautiful suspended seat designed by Bandit 9. Now, you will think, where will my girlfriend sit? That is the beauty of the bike, sometimes you should listen only to the sound of your mind. Overall, Magnus is a slick and stripped bike with a distinctive as well as raw look. Apart from that, there is something in the bike that reminds me of 50's sci-fi creatures.

The Magnus has 3.75 x 19 wheels at front and rear respectively. It comes with upgraded front disc brake and suspension. The two headlights, turn signals, exhaust, speedometer and air filters are custom made by Bandit 9 and looks like they are created after a heavy work. Sourcing parts in china is quite difficult, so Daryl redesigned an old crankshaft to work as a gas cap.

Magnus is currently available for sale with a sticker price of RMB 50.000 ($8,000). The price can vary according to the details and amount of modification required. Before ordering Magnus, remember one thing that it will not be the exact copy of the picture that you are seeing because all the bikes are assembled by hand. You can directly contact the chief of Bandit 9, if you want to order Magnus, looking for a quotation or have any query about the motorcycle. Daryl Villanueva can be contacted on his email- daryl@banditnine.com or on his mobile number +86.1.343.926.7387. Even if you want to see the making of your Magnus, you can contact him and he will schedule a trip to the factory. You can also track the progress of your bike from their blog.

We are expecting some more custom made motorcycles rolling out from the workshop of Daryl. If he does so, we will update you about the same. Right now, you can check the exclusive pictures of Magnus in the image gallery. Enjoy watching them and share your views about the bike with us.
