After the success of Mahindra Scorpio and Bolero, Mahindra launched its off-road vehicle Thar in Indian Market. The main motive to launch Thar was to attract the young enthusiasts who love off-roading. In that term Thar has not disappointed to attract the off roaders. The masculine cuts, the square jaw signature looks have successfully mesmerize new buyers. The Jeep style headlights and its signature style slotted grille show the bold nature of the car. The Thar is a mean machine for the complete off road maniacs with 200mm ground clearance. The Thar celebrates this rich heritage by sharing the MM540’s iconic original frame, but under the hood, it’s a different beast. Mahindra adorned Thar with new luxury features like Central Locking, air-conditioning(optional), power steering, independent front suspension, as well as stabilizer bars that for that extra adrenaline.  Mahindra Thar was launched on 21st December 2010.  It looks like more typical Jeep style with 4 wheel drive option, ideal for outdoor adventures. Mahindra Thar has powerful NEF CRDe Turbocharged Intercooled, diesel engine that gives a maximum power of 105 hp at 3800 rpm and also a torque of 247 Nm at 1800-2000 rpm. It has displacement of 2498cc. The 5 Speed Manual Transmission Gearbox and it claims fuel efficiency of 9.5 kmpl in the city and 14 kmpl on the highways. That is quite good as off-road vehicle can have. Thar has independent front suspension with Torsion bar and stabilizer bar and has Rear Semi elliptical leaf springs suspension in its Rear. Mahindra Thar is equipped with 235/70 R 16 Tubeless Tyres that gives it freedom to rule the tuff rocky roads.
