The range of vehicles Mercedes once proposed under the GLC banner are all set to be christened GLA, with around five entry level cars based on Merc’s Modular Front Architecture (MFA) platform set for production. The first of these could be the 2012 Mercedes Benz GLA SUV that could be based on the same platform as the B-Class sports tourer and the A-Class hatchback.

Set to be launched sometime in the second half of next year, the 2013 Mercedes Benz GLA SUV is expected to stand in at 4440mm long, 1800mm broad and 1500mm high that would put it squarely between the BMW X1 and the Audi Q3 size wise. Since this crossover will be derived from the MFA platform, 2013 GLA could feature the same turbo diesel and turbo petrol engine choices on offer in the B-Class and range. The SUV is expected to be available in both all-wheel and front wheel drive configurations.
Not much is known about what other performance options and interior trim choices are likely to be offered with the 2013 Mercedes Benz GLA SUV. The vehicle should be a worthy rival to the already successful luxury SUVs in the market like the BMW X1. Since the 2012 B-Class is expected to be priced around Rs. 25 Lakh, the 2013 Mercedes Benz GLA SUV too should come with a price tag around the same figure.
