Mosler announces production of reinvented MT900 with a super-limited production run

We’re not sure whether manufacturing one unit of a car in a year qualifies as a limited run production or a rather bizarre attempt at trying to make the car appear “exclusive” to potential buyers. Whatever be the reason behind the strange strategy, but Mosler’s decision to limit the production of its reincarnated MT900 to just copy a year has garnered it plenty of attention around the blogosphere even before the vehicle is up for grabs.

Mosler announced a new lightweight version of the MT900

The new variant of the rear-wheel driven sports car boasts of a lightweight frame that weighs just 1,140 kg or roughly 2,500 lbs thanks to the extensive use of carbon fiber body panels and a chassis fashioned in composite materials. The air conditioned extreme 2 seater is powered by a mid-mounted V8 engine with 7 liters of fuel carrying capacity. Linked to a six-speed Getrag transmission, the powerplant on the new MT900SP outputs 535 horsepower that gets the vehicle to top speed of over 200 mph accelerating from 0-60 mph in under three seconds.

The lightweight hypercar’s intelligent weight reduction helps it generate record levels of braking and cornering forces as well as achieving a stunning fuel economy figure of 30 mpg when you drive it at a leisurely 55 mph. For the privilege of owning one of these monsters, you will have to know all the right people in all the right places apart from having $479,000 lying around in your bank.
